Integrative Wellness with Breathwork

Yoga for Your Grieving Heart

Grieving the death of a loved one can be a confusing, overwhelming and lonely process. This six week yoga class and bereavement support group with Susannah Sanfilippo is for anyone suffering the emotionally and physically exhausting effects of grief. Anyone can do this gentle type of yoga. You do not have to be alone in your grief. The first class is free and the remaining five weeks is a pre-paid rate of $140. Due to the nature of this group, we will close the session to newcomers after the 1st class.

Restorative Yoga with Massage and Warm Herbal Compresses

Find relaxation and stillness in this workshop that combines the benefits of restorative yoga and massage while incorporating soothing warm herbal compresses from the Thai Medicine tradition.
The poses of restorative yoga help the body to receive healing on a deeper level by bringing you to a place of comfort and ease where you will feel fully supported in each posture, allowing you to gently unwind and release tension and stress.
Throughout the sequence, Sara-Lee and Kate will help you to deepen the experience by combining the therapeutic benefits of massage and heated herbal compresses, making space in the body for healing to occur through slow compression and gentle passive stretching. It is recommended to dress comfortably for this class, and in layers as the body temperature may begin to feel cool as you become more relaxed. You will remain in each restorative pose for several minutes, receiving bodywork periodically throughout the class. Arrive prepared to receive hands-on assists and massage.

The number one best way to do this is by developing a regular meditation practice.
Before you think "I can't do meditation" or "Meditation doesn't work for me," consider that meditation practice can change your life. It associated with decreased levels of psychological distress, such as less anxiety, anger, depression and worry. Studies have found that the brain actually changes with meditation.

Group Meditation of Light

The most powerful way to heal our planet (and ourselves) is by living in a vibration of love. When we come together as a group of souls, we are able to open our hearts and amplify light and healing energy for each other and for all beings. Join us for a group meditation to help raise our collective vibration to that of love. This may be one of many to come. Rachel Horton White of Soulful Work Intuitive Consulting will facilitate for now but eventually this may rotate to others.
Together we will:
- set an intention for the meditation
- meditate partially in silence with only a few words for 20-30 minutes
- share what we are feeling/experiencing afterward

In this program, you will train your brain to let go of attachment to negative thoughts in your everyday life. You will to “re-wire” the cycle of thought chatter and invented stories by practicing letting go of thoughts, focusing on your breath (or a healing phrase/object), and then by practicing just being aware of sensations (sounds, feelings, etc.) in your body or environment and releasing judging them as good/bad/unwanted.

Managing Stress through the Subconscious

The holidays can be a significant source of stress, feelings of overwhelm and obligation. During this time of year and throughout our lives, many of us experience constant stress coming at us from all directions – in the workplace, from information overload of the electronic age, from our financial situations and even from some relationships with others. And even though smartphones have increased our feeling that we are getting more done, our levels of stress have steadily risen each year since smartphones came on the scene in the early 2000s (APA, 2017). 79% of Americans report feeling stress regularly (Gallup, 2017) and an average of 83% of visits to the doctor are due to stress-related ailments. Stress damages not only the mind, but also the body: 43% of adults suffer negative health effects from stress (WebMD, 2017).
The good news is that we can change our automatic, “fight or flight” responses to stress by re-training our brains and changing our neural pathways. One of the best ways to do this is by re-programming the automatic negative thought patterns in the subconscious mind. In this workshop on hypnotherapy, you will learn how hypnosis can be an incredibly effective way to reduce stress and bring about increased wellbeing and peace in all areas of life.

Many of us are noticing how much we are picking up energy from our environment and from others around us these days. Sensitive people especially may be feeling this. It can show up as unexplained sadness or anger that seems to come from nowhere. I have personally seen people become debilitated who are extremely empathic (or clairsentient). If you find yourself becoming exhausted by being around other people, or feeling unexplained emotions that don’t seem to be your own, then this is probably you.
We can learn to better protect, ground and clear ourselves from absorbing the emotions of others around us.

We all have this little voice inside of us that tells us all kinds of mean things about ourselves. Why we’re not capable, why we are never going to make enough money, that we are not likable, that we should worry about what people will think, why we should do something or shouldn’t do something else. It is the negative aspect of our Ego self, a falsely-created identity that society has helped to created. It is born in childhood and is strengthened something an adult (usually a parent) says or does that has a lasting effect. Often it is an innocuous comment, but it can cause deep self-doubt. As we grow older and go out into the world, this negative Ego self grows stronger and evolves into the voice of an Inner Critic.
When we take the time to dissect this Inner Critic and identify when its comes out in our lives, we can see it for what it is. We will do writing exercise that personifies the strongest Inner Critic voice as if it were a person and then separates from it.
In this workshop, you’ll receive detailed teachings from Rachel Horton White of Soulful Work Intuitive Consulting about this Ego self (Inner Critic), as opposed to the Higher Self (our soul). In our massive shifting into our true, light-filled selves, we are being asked to shed the layers of ego. This is one of the most important, and hardest, parts of our evolving into the spiritual beings we truly are.

We all have tried setting goals, making resolutions and creating new habits. Why does it seem so difficult to stick to them? This is because we are only dealing with the conscious mind. We can set all the goals in the world, but if our subconscious mind presents with any resistance, blocks or pre-existing doubts, then none of our efforts will have lasting effects. It is when we access the subconscious mind that we can begin to break down old habits and create new ones. And there are several powerful ways to do this: with guided imagery and neuro-linguistic programming.
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is an incredible way to implant new thoughts and transform behaviors. Through visualization and creating new associations, the techniques in NLP can be life-changing when used consistently. We can learn to re-program our behavior by creating a new visualization associated with a positive habit/behavior replacing a negative one.
